3 Levels of certification to coach

Want to get yourself certified as a coach? After completing our Co-Creation coach training, this is possible. Intention is accredited as a trainer to certify for the 1st and 2nd level on behalf of ICF. In this article you can read more about what these levels entail.

There are 3 different levels of certifications at ICF. Obtaining an ICF certification, the internationally recognized standard in coaching, sets you apart as a professional. An ICF certification is recognized worldwide.

The 3 levels of ICF certification:

Associate Certified Coach (ACC)

This is the entry level. As an ACC certified coach, you are able to conduct a professional and structured coach conversation. You have basic proficiency in the ICF Core Competency model. This level requires:

  • Specific coach training of at least 60 classroom hours.
  • Mentor coaching on an individual basis of at least 10 hours
  • Minimum of 100 coach experience hours
  • Oral and written exam at Intention
  • Successful completion of the online ICF knowledge test

Professional Certified Coach (PCC)

This certification demonstrates a deep commitment to professional coaching and personal development. Wherever you go, as a coach you take yourself with you. At a PCC, you can expect excellent application of the tools of coaching and strong development of the skills associated with the ICF competency model. This level requires:

  • Specific coach training of at least 125 classroom hours
  • Mentor coaching on an individual basis of at least 10 hours
  • Gain a minimum of 500 hours of coaching experience
  • Oral and written exam at Intention
  • Successful completion of the online ICF knowledge test

Master Certified Coach (MCC)

The MCC level is the highest ICF certification and requires a sustained commitment to professional and personal development as a person and therefore as a coach. This level requires:

  • Specific coach training of at least 250 classroom hours
  • Mentor coaching an MCC on an individual basis for a minimum of 10 hours
  • Gain a minimum of 2,500 hours of coaching experience
  • Review of two coach recordings by ICF
  • Successful completion of the online ICF knowledge test

Do you want to certify yourself as a coach?

Achieving certification requires dedication. Each level demonstrates an increased understanding of and proficiency in the ICF Core Competency model. At Intention, we support you on your journey to ICF certification. We do this with trainings as well as mentor coaching designed to meet the specific requirements of each level. Intention’s Co-Creation coach training program is ICF accredited as a training provider and may also carry the seal of approval of the Dutch Board of Supervision and Training (NRTO).

Earlier you read that we are allowed to certify for the 1st and 2nd level on behalf of ICF. This means that after your Co-Creation training, a mentor coaching program and the required experiential hours program you can obtain your ACC or PCC certification with us.
