Cultural connection and communication
In today’s global and diverse workplace, cross-cultural communication is part of everyday life – whether you’re writing emails, leading meetings, giving feedback, or running your own coaching business. Different communication styles shape how messages are interpreted and can easily lead to misunderstandings. Communication patterns, assumptions and reflexes that show up in business interactions don’t disappear when we start coaching, they come with us into the coaching relationship.
During the workshop, we will explore cross-cultural communication from these two closely connected perspectives:
Business communication
- How cultural differences influence communication styles and expectations.
- How greater awareness enables clearer and more effective communication in organisational and professional contexts.
Coaching practice
- Our own cultural defaults as coaches.
- How our cultural defaults influence presence, listening, curiosity and choice in coaching conversations.
The workshop is highly interactive and grounded in learning by doing, combining practical tools, reflection and live practice to support confident communication and coaching across cultures.

Trainers
Angela Smith and Seonad Lindsay
Angela Smith, ACC and Seonad Lindsay, ACC are two Scottish-born, Netherlands-based coaches and facilitators who bring together deep international business experience with a shared passion for human connection, learning, and transformation.
Offering more than six decades of leadership and consultancy experience across global organisations, start-ups, and multicultural environments, their backgrounds span Business Development, Marketing, Communication, and Leadership. Both have lived and worked internationally for most of their careers.
Angela brings over 35 years of international experience in Business Development, now working as a consultant supporting start-ups as they scale and grow sustainably. Her work combines strategic insight with a grounded, coach-style approach to leadership and organisational development.
Seonad brings over 30 years’ experience in Marketing and Communication, leading multi-disciplinary teams within complex international organisations. She is known for translating complexity into clarity and aligning people, perspectives, and strategy — bringing a distinctly people-focused, coach-informed approach that enables sustainable performance and effective change.
On behalf of Intention, we train Co-Creation and Coaching Essentials in English. For corporate clients, we also create and deliver training programmes focused on cultural connection and communication as well as transformational team coaching.
